Reuben’s Retreat Summer Ball

Four of the Progressive Travel Recruitment team and I had a fantastic night at Reuben’s Retreat summer ball, the ‘Reuball’ on Saturday evening in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Progressive Travel are regular supporters of this brilliant charity and we were very proud to be sponsors on the night.

I was so impressed by the detail that had gone into the event. For my colleagues Nicola, Claire, Fiona, Lee and I (pictured above at the ball, left to right with me on the far left), it was a chance to get properly dressed up and have a lovely evening out. We danced to the Take That tribute band, won a bottle of wine on the movie-music bingo, ate and drank delicious food and wine and partied until the small hours. The Reuben’s Retreat team did an inspired job of sourcing prizes and entertainment, with one lucky person winning a mini cruise.

It was a real honour to hear more about Ruben’s Retreat, too. I got a sense of the organisation as a big supportive family, and enjoyed

meeting some of the dedicated volunteers. Set up by Reuben’s parents and led by his mum Nicola Graham after sadly losing young Reuben, the charity now provides support in so many ways to families nationwide.

Those who have been bereaved by losing young children and families whose children have a life-limiting or life-threatening illness can all access help from Reuben’s. Services include counselling, support groups, activity and therapy days, short breaks for children, and bereavement breaks.

It was great to hear that the charity is continuing to grow. They’re an inspiring group to be around.

We’ll be continuing our support of Reuben’s and look forward to attending next year’s ball on the first weekend in July. If you’d like to contribute in any way or find out more, have a look at their website.
